My earliest Rolling Stone only goes back to 1979 I think – with McCartney on the cover. It had a great article on the Who (just after their infamous show in Cincinnati where 11 people got trampled & killed in the mad dash caused by general seating in the venue) and a picture of Townshend with his hands bloodied from over-zealous windmill guitar strumming. The Hulk cover is great!
