Thanks, Dave; glad you “got” it. You’re right about this inspiring future discussion; the next column just might touch on this very topic!

I’m not sure I would have gotten the idea had I not stolen your column for a week . . .

Yes, it does appear George Carlin’s classic definition of “Stuff” is taking a beating, isn’t it? “Stuff” is now more mental…it applies to what we read, even what we think. And, when you borrowed my column, think you did a great job of capturing that. After all, are the comics the physical pieces of paper that hold the ink….or are the characters and concepts that appear on those pages, to be transmitted however they can be?

Technology makes for interesting times! The comics may not change, but how we get them WILL. The physical comic may go the way of the 45…but the comics will continue. But, that then makes an actual comic…that much more collectible, since it “real stuff” as opposed to “intellectual stuff”. We’re headed into the “Undiscovered County” of the future (as discussed by good ol’ Bill Shakespeare back in the day, or Bill Shatner in Star Trek VI! And will this future be able to support dinosaurs like us who want a paper comic?)

And all of this…is great “stuff” for future columns and debate!
