Thanks, guys. Glad you picked up on the point that comics are a niche to start with, and cons cater to only a portion of even that. I realize it’s a big deal to those putting on the shows, but to the mainstream world, this is way beneath their notice, and if it ever bubbles up and GETS noticed, it’s only going to make the hobby look very bad.

Maybe I SHOULD step up and see what I can do . . .

Great article. That is why there is Marvel and DC, Coke and Pepsi. Rivals yes, but they respect each other and realize their specific niches in the market. In response to an over-emphatic comicbook collector, one dealer stated, “There comicbooks…….comicbooks…..Relax, it’s not that big a deal. Sure we love them and respect them as our hobby, but you need to put things back into perspective.” Likewise, they’re comicbook conventions. People want to have fun. Be happy, relax, enjoy, ponder, contemplate and soak in the ambiance of all what we love in the creative world of comics and pop culture.

The fans and professionals are stuck in the position of being a referee between two blindfolded boxers…we’re just there for the show, but we’re the ones being beaten up!

It would be nice if we could all just get along.

Good insight there, JJ!

Seemed to me that it was a good show this year, btu I was only in and out over two very different days.

I’d like to see these two shows quit playing Mom and Dad to the kids who are stuck in the middle of the messy divorce – the creators and the fans.

There’s plenty of people who would love to see Detroit in some light other than the controversial one and oodles of creators who would certainly be able to fit one or the other show in their schedule, which would only be to the benefit of the fans and the industry.
