As a kid and teenager he always just seemed like the guy who pushed the cool X-characters into battle. Then for a decade or so I was just on autoplot with the guy, I just figured that those old feelings still applied. Then came those god awful Morison years wherer there was no redeemable quality to him at all (cheating on the sweet red-hgeaded woman you spent 25 years chasing with a bitchy blonde?) But in a way those Morrison years created an apprection in me for cyke, They made me go back and read new issues in a whole new light. Now, I’ll never like cyclops as much as I do his brother Alex, or his other first classers Iceman and Beast, or Nightcrawler, and certainly not as much as my favorite X-character Madrox… but I can finally apreciate him for what he was (and I do mean was) and even enjoy some of those great character buyiling issues of his past as much as one can.

But, I always thought a great series idea would Cyclops and Havok removed from superhero teams just kind of on their own as brothers and mutants. And with what is happening to Scott and Lorna, this may just be the right time for it. a way for the characers to get their heads together and rediscover what makes them interestingm, and of course make them workable in the futue. I’m sorry but it is going to be a long, long, long time before Cyclops can come back from AVX 11, with or without he phoenix controling him. and it will be even longer until he is asked to lead.

Also, something tells me th whole single-vision thing for cyclops was deliberate, not from you (you did already cop to that) but from is not Stan Lee, then certainly either Thomas or Claremont.

and finally, the stuff that can really make you a Scott Summers fan is the silver age stuff. A leader full of self-doubt everywhere but the battlefield is a truly interesting hook.

Sincerly,
M. Lapham

P.S. tell the little woman I said “glory be untoher, and may her enemies know the righteous sting of vengeance, yo.” (gotta through a “yo” in or the kids don’t know what you’re talking about)

Faith not fun, just to clarify.
