I’ll have to check that issue out the next time i’m in the store. I’ve enjoyed what i’ve read of the character so far in Amazing X-Men, so i’ll give it a shot. Made sure I picked up the first issue of New Warriors yesterday.

Given your new passion for Firestar, and your being an X-junkie, I would definitely recommend picking up New Warriors volume 1 # 31. I doubt the store will be selling it for more than a dollar.

One thing I forgot to mention in the article (I know its so lon that it is hard to believe I forgot anything) but, one of the most impressive things about the series is that without any change to the character my view of Justice aka Vance Astrovik changed over the course of the series. He started out being my least favorite character, coming a bit too close to those all too perfect DC teens I mentioned, and then he instantly became my favorite when they showed why he was so pure and uncompromising in his heroism views. I don’t know why that impresses me so much but it does.

I have self esteem issues and get bored easily.

Nice response, i’ll have to check out the mini series you’re talking about. I always enjoy hearing about people’s personal connections to stories. I’m glad that Firestar has been picked up by the X-Men over in Amazing. This will be my first try with a New Warriors book and i’m looking forward to it, happy to see others giving it a shot.

Why do you always slag on your own article? At least this time you used your real name…

I agree, it was different but was fun in a timeframe of dark books. It started to seemed forced when characters like the Scarlet Spider joined near the end. The following few series were not that great overall, but since I read the originals for so long, I tried them. For some reason, I felt connected to many of the originals such as Firestar (what can I say, I watched Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends as a little one) and loved seeing her and Justice “graduate” to the Avengers. The storyline where Hank Pym invents the suit to stop her microwaves from killing any family future was interesting especially how it just seemed so easy for him. I won’t forget the recent cancer mini-series either and how she faced it. Since my wife and I went through infertility and then her cancers, I just felt connected somehow. That’s really what Marvel wants…you to enjoy their books and hopefully feel a connection. I will give this one a try.

Let the 90s die already. It is viewed as a wasteland for comics for a reason. Just because you invoke Starman and the Spectre, does not make it a good comparison. The series was cancelled for a reason, comics were about to get better, and this garbage had no place in the biz anymore. This crap was far more Leifeld than James Robinson.
