There’s an interesting article you should check out on a website called The Comics Detective by a man named Ken Quattro. In in he starts out on the history of the early ’40s Spirit radio show, but at the end, he mentions the 1987 picture disc. According to an historian named Karl Schadow, the 1948 TV show was a series of five 5-minute productions as an animated version of the comic strip. Fascinating article from July of 2012.
