{"id":109,"date":"2009-12-07T20:58:48","date_gmt":"2009-12-08T01:58:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gobacktothepast.com\/?p=109"},"modified":"2022-06-29T15:12:48","modified_gmt":"2022-06-29T19:12:48","slug":"barnes-avenue-then-and-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gobacktothepast.com\/barnes-avenue-then-and-now\/","title":{"rendered":"Barnes Avenue Then and Now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s not often that <a href=\"https:\/\/gobacktothepast.com\/for-buyers\/collectibles-we-sell\/photos-advertising\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a batch of photos cross my desk<\/a> that have specific addresses written on them, so when one does, I always enjoy checking out how similar the area looks now, versus whatever period is in the photo. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gobacktothepast.com\/for-sellers\/collectibles-we-buy\/photos-advertising\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This week we found a nice example!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Google Street View isn&#8217;t always pinpoint accurate, as far as the exact address goes, so you have to sometimes slide up &amp; down the street a little to find the right spot.<\/p>\n<p>First, here&#8217;s our vintage 1928 photo, inscribed &#8220;Our home in Lansing, 126 Barnes Ave East.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gobacktothepast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/lansing.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7783 alignnone\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" title=\"Barnes Avenue, Lansing Michigan\" src=\"https:\/\/gobacktothepast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/lansing.jpg\" alt=\"Barnes Avenue, Lansing Michigan\" width=\"500\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We get this result from Google Street View, at approximately the same address:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/gobacktothepast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/20091207-gpeqi4ct3b55eq2mrpj6ra7ugf.jpg\" alt=\"Google Street View of the same house?\" width=\"480\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Same house? \u00a0What do you think?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s not often that a batch of photos cross my desk that have specific addresses written on them, so when one does, I always enjoy checking out how similar the area looks now, versus whatever period is in the photo. \u00a0This week we found a nice example!
