Howdy folks! Sorry I was not able to do a post last week. I was in Northern Michigan with my family and had no access to a computer, but I’m back this week with yet another new Fabulous Find. We had great weather and I had a nice relaxing weekend and I’m back recharged and raring to go! So let’s get started.
This week I want to write about a little gem I came across via eBay. I really do not know the providence of the item, but I would guess that Marvel Comics did not authorize this item, so I guess you could call it a bootleg!
So what is it? Glad you asked, it’s The F.O.O.M.M. (Fans of Old Marvelmania) stationary kit. It does have the Marvel copyright listed on each item, so I could be wrong about it being authorized, but I really doubt it.
First, here is the envelope it comes in:

The F.O.O.M.M. envelope
I know the picture is small, but the envelope sports great classic Marvel artwork. Clearly the larger art at the bottom has been drawn by Jack Kirby. The envelope itself is worth the price of admission!
The contents, as listed, include; ten (10) different 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of stationary, eight (8) different 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 sheets of note paper, ten (10) long envelopes, five (5) each of two (2) different styles and one (1) re-order form.
Here are samples of the larger sheets of stationary:
These are the images on two of the sheets, that I have put into just one (1) image. The Spider-Man appears to be the classic image drawn by John Romita and the Captain America appears to be done by Jim Steranko.
Here are a couple more:
That is clearly a Jack Kirby Galactus image and the Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. image is clearly a Jim Steranko drawing. The artwork is really great, but it is very large and takes up a lot of space on the sheet of paper, thus not allowing much room to write upon.
Next up is the smaller sized note paper. Here are a few of those jammed into one (1) image:
Again the art selected is classic Marvel artwork and it looks terrific!
Which leaves the envelopes to share with you. Both styles sport Jack Kirby artwork, first, a Doctor Doom headshot, then secondly, a group shot from the stationary’s outside envelope. Take a look:
And the only thing left is the re-order form, which I won’t bother to show you, as it contains no artwork.
So what do you think? Authorized or not? Anyone else pick up one of these? Were they massed produced or a rare find? I really don’t know, but never-the-less, it’s a Fabulous Find!
Be sure to stop by next week for something or other from me, another Fabulous Find? A new RETRO REVIEW? Maybe something from the turntable? Stay tuned to find out! be seeing you …
