I’m back with a new Fabulous Find for you. And this week I’m featuring the 1978 Milton Bradley – Marvel Comics’ Incredible Hulk Game with the Fantastic Four. The game is intended for ages 7 to 12, so there is not a lot of skill involved in this one folks, but it can still be fun if played with four players, but maybe not quite as fun with just two or three players. But you’d have to determine that for yourself!
Here is the game box for the game:

1978 Hulk Board Game Box
I love that it says, right below the title of the game, The Hulk’s on the Rampage! Watch Out! The object of the game is also clearly listed on the left hand side of the box, “Object: Find the cure for Dr. Banner;s mysterious change”! And the graphics are great on the box, as well.
The full instructions are printed on the inside of the box’s lid. From those instructions;Dr. Banner haas turned into the Incredible Hulk and is running wild in the city! Choose your favorite Fantastic FOur character and move about the board trying to collect four different Dr. Banner cards. But watch out for the Hulk! If you collect all four parts od Dr. Banner’s face, you win the game and the Hulk changes back into Dr. Banner.”
Take a look at those cards, why don’t you:

As you can clearly see, it takes four different cards to complete Dr. Banner’s face and win the game.
You also move around the board using a very cool Hulk spinner. Here it is:

Notice that it is the Hulk’s arm that spins and points to the numbers. How cool is that?
And how about the character icons or markers? Glad you asked, here they are, as well:

They punch out from the cardboard and stand up using little plastic holders or feet! And of course, here is the game board you play on:

It looks to me that all of the artwork for the games is done by Marvel Comics staff, and in particular, John Romita Sr.
Of the Marvel games I’ve shared here, I think this one might be the simplest and therefore best for younger children rather than adults. But with that said, I’m still happy to have it in my collection. That’s all for this week’s Fabulous Find, but stop by again next Friday for a new RETRO REVIEW!
Be seeing you …
In the game, is his name Bruce Banner or David Banner?
