Going through programs from old comic book conventions I’ve attended over the years, I came across this “rare” one. It’s from the Detroit Dream Con held back in 1975. It was held over a weekend, at Notre Dame High School. The convention was the work of fifteen year old, Mike Shiner, with help from Alex Marciniszyn and Kevin Siembieda.
Where is the best place to sell my old comic books?
Here is the cover, drawn by Will Eisner, who was a guest at this convention:

Other professional guests included; Rich Buckler, Dick Giordano, Ralph Reese, Marie Severin and Mike Vosburg. Buckler and Vosburg had ties to Detroit already.
The convention program book is a nice one, besides the great Spirit cover by Eisner, there was art by Jeff Jones, Rich Buckler, Jim Starlin (also with Detroit ties), Marie Severin, Dick Giordano, Neal Adams, Ralph Reece, Russell Myers, Mike Royer and Mike Vosburg.
I’ll share a couple of those illustrations with you below:

Sorry, but I could not get the whole image, as my scanner bed was just slightly to small. But hopefully what you do get to see, shows how good this Marie Severin piece is!

All in all, that’s a pretty nice program book, for any professional or fan run convention. So kudos to this group of fans for doing such a great job!
That’s it for this week’s Fabulous Find. Stop back in a week or two for a new Fabulous Find, or maybe a rare RETRO REVIEW. You just never know, if you don’t check back regularly.
Good night Mr. and Mrs. America and all the ships at sea.
be seeing you …
